Sweden's main academic computing center, Parallelldatorcentrum (PDC), held its annual conference on parallel and high-performance computing, December 15-17, 1999, on the campus of Stockholm's Royal Institute of Technology.

This year's theme was "Simulation and Visualization on the Grid" , and topics included computational simulations; hardware and software for visualization and virtual reality; collaborative simulation; distributed virtual reality systems; and digital libraries.

Invited speakers included Nicolle Bordes (San Diego Supercomputer Center); Maxine Brown (University of Illinois at Chicago); Andrew Chien (University of California San Diego); Tom DeFanti (University of Illinois at Chicago); Henry Fuchs (University of North Carolina Chapel Hill); Carl Kesselman (University of Southern California, Information Sciences Institute); Bernard Pailthorpe (San Diego Supercomputer Center); and Thierry Priol (INRIA).

The conference proceedings, available on the web, will be published in Springer-Verlag's "Lecture Notes in Computational Science and Engineering" series.
