CANARIE Launches CA*net 4 Advanced Applications Program |
October 21, 2003 CANARIE launches $4 million CA*net 4 Advanced Applications Program (AAP) New Money Will Keep Canadian Researchers on the Cutting Edge of Advanced Network Applications MONTREAL, CANADA - CANARIE President and CEO Andrew Bjerring announced today $4 million in funding for the CA*net 4 Advanced Applications Program (AAP). Researchers from across Canada are invited to submit project proposals for the development of advanced applications in a number of areas including network research, advanced network and applications security, and distributed or grid computing. During the keynote speech at CANARIE’s 9th annual Advanced Network Workshop Dr. Bjerring said, “Our Advanced Applications Program will help Canada remain at the forefront of advanced network research and application development. With the support of Industry Canada, we are able to provide researchers with the tools and funding they need to deliver the social, cultural and economic benefits of advanced networks and applications to Canadians.” Applications should be sent in confidence via e-mail to c4-project @ canarie.ca by Monday, February 2, 2004. Project proposals will be evaluated by a peer review committee made up of members from industry, research and education and selected through a competitive process and reviewed relative to a set of mandatory criteria.
