ATLAS

The ATLAS experiment will study proton-proton interactions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics CERN. The detector is due to begin operation in the year 2005. ATLAS is designed to improve our fundamental understanding of matter and forces. A prime physics goal of ATLAS is to understand the nature of mass.
